A Change in Plans

Eric Wright has needed to reschedule his demo of Dragon Speech, KnowBrainer, and Windows Speech Recognition, to another Tuesday meet-up, hopefully as soon as possible, later this spring.  We look forward to it!

So in place of his presentation we thought we might try more of an open discussion on web accessibility featuring contributions from key members of the group.  Some topics of discussion might be:

  • Accessibility/Usability survey of the American Library Association Website
  • Contacting Organizations about Inaccessible Websites
  • Accessibility of Standardized Testing
  • Plain language Accessibility Document

Two members of the American Library Association (ALA), Cynthia Matthias and Mike Marlin, have requested to join the group Tuesday via skype to share ideas about a proposed Accessibility/Usability survey of the ALA website that they want to do in time for the ALA annual conference in DC in June.

Other topics of discussion are welcome.  Feel free to reply with ideas or just bring them up at the meet-up.

So the agenda might look something like this:

6:30 PM - 6:45 PM - Welcome everyone.

6:45 PM - 8:00 PAM – Open Discussion on various proposed topics, including ALA Accessibility/Usability Survey

8:00 PM - 8:30 PM - Closing remarks, clean-up, and information about after event wanderings. We will also be looking for more ideas of what talks people want to here and/or give for the next meeting.

Thanks!

John F Croston III and Patrick Timony
